War Against Drugs – Awareness Event at Village Alam Shah by Fazilka Police

Fazilka, March 7: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government continues its resolute fight against drugs. As per the directives of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, Fazilka Police organized an awareness event at Village Aalam Shah, located near the international border, as part of the “Sampark Abhiyan.” The event was graced by Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna as the chief guest, with IG Baljot Singh Rathore presiding and SSP Varinder Singh Brar attending as a special guest. Aalam Shah Village holds the distinction of being drug-free, with no drug-related cases registered against any resident in the past several years. Acknowledging this achievement, the district police honoured the current and former village panchayats for their commitment. Speaking at the event, MLA Sawna praised the overwhelming public support for the campaign and encouraged neighboring village representatives to actively participate. He announced a sports ground worth ₹30 lakh and a volleyball ground worth ₹5 lakh for Aalam Shah, along with a ₹5 lakh volleyball ground in Amar Pura village, emphasizing youth engagement in sports. IG Baljot Singh Rathore reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, warning that even those advocating for offenders would face legal action. He appreciated public cooperation and assured firm action against cross-border drug smuggling attempts. SSP Varinder Singh Brar acknowledged the vital role of panchayats and assured continued recognition for outstanding efforts in the anti-drug campaign. National and international athletes Trisha Kamboj and Amanat Kamboj were specially honored, along with other commendable panchayats. Social worker Sanjeev Marshal shared insights on youth development and drug prevention. The event also marked the release of a poster for the upcoming “Yuva Chetna Yatra” from Fazilka to Hussainiwala on March 22. Several dignitaries, including SP Ravneesh Chaudhary, DSP Tarsem Masih, and social activists, attended the event, commending the Fazilka police’s proactive initiative.
